Java Software Developer – Backend API

About the role

VML Costa Rica, part of WPP, is looking for a skilled Java Developer to join its Backend API team. You will design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable APIs that power a variety of client applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs using Java and Spring frameworks.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Write clean, maintainable code with appropriate unit and integration test coverage.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in existing API implementations.
• Participate in code reviews and enforce coding standards.
• Optimize application performance and scalability.
• Document APIs thoroughly for internal and external consumers.
• Contribute to continuous integration and deployment pipelines.

Required profile

• Strong technical expertise in Java and modern API development frameworks.
• Experience building RESTful and/or GraphQL services.
• Proficiency with the Spring ecosystem.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
