About the role

The National Purchasing Manager for Perishable Foods will lead the local procurement function, negotiating strategically with suppliers to secure a diverse, high‑quality product range at competitive prices that align with commercial and budgetary goals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead commercial negotiations with local suppliers, defining purchase terms, pricing, discounts, logistics conditions and margins.
• Manage product categorisation and ensure correct operational implementation.
• Identify and introduce new products that enhance competitiveness and respond to market trends.
• Ensure achievement of sales targets, gross margin and inventory objectives within budget.
• Coordinate closely with regional teams, operations, logistics and regulatory areas.
• Develop and maintain long‑term relationships with strategic suppliers.
• Oversee accurate product information in systems (prices, codes, specifications, etc.).
• Analyse sales, inventory and commercial performance reports to propose corrective actions.
• Manage the department budget and ensure efficient resource use.
• Lead, coach and develop the purchasing team.

Required profile

• University degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Economics or related fields.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in similar roles, preferably in retail, mass consumption or perishable food sectors.
• Proven experience in supplier negotiation and category management.
• Strong analytical and numerical abilities.
• Leadership, teamwork and effective communication skills.
• Result‑oriented with a customer‑service focus.
• Proficiency in Spanish and English (written and spoken).
• Willingness to travel.
