Facilities Manager

About the role

The Facilities Manager will oversee site‑level facilities operations and services at Johnson & Johnson’s Alajuela location, ensuring a safe, clean, and compliant workplace for employees and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day facilities operations including maintenance, security, janitorial services, landscaping, parking, and waste management.
• Lead and develop facilities staff, contractors, and service providers, overseeing building systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, alarms, and clean‑room infrastructure.
• Conduct inspections, audits, and preventive maintenance to identify issues and drive continuous improvement.
• Oversee vendor relationships, service agreements, and performance metrics, ensuring timely work order completion.
• Plan and execute renovation, expansion, and upgrade projects in partnership with project managers and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, fire codes, safety regulations, environmental requirements, and emergency protocols.

Required profile

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in facilities management, engineering, or related field.
• 6–8 years of facilities management experience, including laboratory or clean‑room environments; people‑management experience preferred.
• Strong vendor management, contract negotiation, and project execution skills.
• Ability to work independently, make timely decisions, and coordinate cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.
• Familiarity with ISO 14001 Environmental Management and ISO 50001 Energy Management systems.
• Experience with facility management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
