Event Communications Coordinator for IUCN World Congress 2027

About the role

The Event Communications Coordinator will lead all communication activities for the IUCN World Protected and Conserved Areas Congress 2027. Reporting to the Senior Global Communications Manager, the role works closely with the Global Convenings and Events Unit, the Regional Office for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, the host country, and the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the operational focal point for event communications, linking the Secretariat, host country, and WCPA.
• Manage the communications timeline, advise on event preparations, and keep internal audiences informed, including budget updates.
• Produce all IUCN corporate event communications and marketing materials in English, French, and Spanish.
• Create and maintain website content for the Congress, coordinating with the IUCN PCA Congress webmaster.
• Source photos and video, and oversee their distribution to the team.
• Design and execute a newsletter marketing campaign, including editorial planning, content creation, and issuance.
• Handle translations and support international, regional, and national media relations in collaboration with IUCN press officers.

Required profile

• Fluency in English, French and Spanish to produce multilingual communications.
• Experience coordinating communications for large‑scale events or conferences.
• Strong ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across regions.
