Director of Agronomy

About the role

The Director of Agronomy leads all agronomic operations for the golf course and surrounding landscaped areas, ensuring optimal playing conditions while championing environmental sustainability. This senior position oversees multidisciplinary teams and collaborates with other departments to align agronomic strategies with club standards and member expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the master maintenance plan for turfgrass, greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
• Manage irrigation programming, water‑conservation initiatives, and sustainable use of fertilizers and chemicals.
• Supervise the full maintenance team, providing training, performance evaluations, and fostering a safety‑first culture.
• Prepare and control the agronomy department budget, forecast expenses, and oversee procurement of supplies, machinery, and technology.
• Coordinate with Golf Operations, Construction, Landscaping, and General Management to align schedules and strategic goals.
• Maintain company assets responsibly and undertake any additional tasks assigned by senior leadership.
