Controller – Finance – LATAM

About the role

GEP is looking for a detail‑oriented Controller to lead finance operations across its LATAM legal entities. Based in Costa Rica, you will be the primary finance contact for Costa Rica, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina and Chile, ensuring compliance, accurate reporting and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual close processes for all LATAM entities and prepare comprehensive close packages.
• Maintain financial records in accordance with US GAAP and accrual accounting principles.
• Prepare and file local tax returns, manage statutory compliance and monitor regulatory changes in each jurisdiction.
• Oversee Free Trade Zone reporting for Costa Rica, ensuring compliance with PROCOMER and Ministry of Finance requirements.
• Manage vendor, employee and tax payments, supervising accounts payable to avoid penalties.
• Mentor and guide the LATAM finance team, driving process improvements and scalability.
• Serve as the main finance liaison for internal stakeholders and present results to the Senior Director of Finance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or local equivalent preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience with multi‑country LATAM exposure.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, accrual accounting and local tax regulations.
• Hands‑on experience with tax filings and statutory compliance in at least one LATAM country.
• Experience with Costa Rica Free Trade Zone reporting is a plus.
