Contador(a) – Operación en Costa Rica

About the role

We are looking for an Accountant to join the Costa Rica operation of an international engineering, construction and energy projects company. The role ensures accurate accounting records, tax compliance and the preparation of financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Key responsibilities

• Record and control all accounting entries for revenue, expenses, assets, liabilities and other operations following IFRS.
• Prepare and file tax returns (income tax, VAT, withholdings) with the Costa Rican Ministry of Finance.
• Execute monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes, producing financial statements with notes and supporting documentation.
• Manage electronic invoicing, accounts receivable and accounts payable, monitoring customer and supplier balances.
• Perform bank and ledger reconciliations, including advances, fixed assets, provisions and other relevant accounts.
• Support cost and profitability analysis for projects, providing reliable financial data for decision‑making.
• Coordinate audits, fiscal closures and regulatory requirements together with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Maintain proper accounting and documentary control, including legal books, fixed assets and tax exemption tracking.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Current and active CPA (Contador Público Autorizado) registration.
• Minimum six years of professional accounting experience.
• Strong background in general accounting, closing, financial statements, taxes and Costa Rican fiscal compliance.
• Experience applying IFRS.
• Basic to intermediate English for interaction with the headquarters.
