Chemical Analyst

About the role

The Chemical Analyst will join Bayer's pharmaceutical physical‑chemical laboratory in Alajuela, Costa Rica. The role focuses on routine testing, data reporting, and supporting the development of technical documentation while ensuring compliance with GLP and HSE guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine chemical and physical analyses using validated methods.
• Support the creation and maintenance of high‑level technical documents.
• Enter data, report results, and conduct statistical analysis of laboratory data.
• Assist with analytical transfers, new processes, and equipment calibration/maintenance.
• Identify deviations, out‑of‑specification results, and generate required documentation.
• Participate in root‑cause analysis and CAPA implementation.
• Coordinate activities with stakeholders and ensure compliance with internal procedures.

Required profile

• Degree in Analytical Chemistry or related laboratory science.
• Minimum 2 years experience in a pharmaceutical physical‑chemical laboratory.
• Intermediate English reading and writing skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment and work both independently and in a team.

Required skills

• Operation of analytical instruments: GC, HPLC/UPLC, FTIR, UV/Vis, tensile testing machine.
• Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Documentation Practices.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
• Familiarity with SAP and analytical method validation.
• Statistical analysis and root‑cause analysis techniques.
• Experience with CAPA processes.
