CAD Electrical Engineer

About the role

Joby is seeking a CAD Electrical Engineer to support its Equipment Build Manufacturing team. The role focuses on designing, specifying, and continuously improving automated and semi‑automated machines used for production and testing of our vertical‑takeoff air‑taxi aircraft.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Design and Manufacturing Test Engineering to define acceptance‑test requirements.
• Create clear panel layouts and wiring diagrams that comply with industry safety standards such as NFPA 79.
• Select appropriate electrical hardware, size wires and components, and map network/communication links for equipment.
• Maintain up‑to‑date electrical schematics, one‑line diagrams, wire‑harness drawings, and complete BOMs.
• Drive continuous improvement on qualified automated machines and update as‑built drawings per ASME Y14.5.
• Support design reviews, lifecycle changes, and documentation releases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in electromechanical engineering, electrical, mechatronics or a related field.
• 4‑6 years of experience in electromechanical design.
• Strong knowledge of electrical controls, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams to safety standards.
