About the role
The Caballerango is responsible for ensuring the wellbeing and optimal condition of horses through daily care, feeding, hygiene, and training, while also maintaining safe and efficient equestrian facilities.
Key responsibilities
- Perform basic repairs on equestrian equipment and facilities.
- Clean stables and stalls daily, removing manure and replacing bedding material.
- Organise horse allocation according to schedules, routines, and operational needs.
- Implement preventive deworming programs and monitor for internal and external parasites.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by a veterinarian.
- Observe and promptly report any signs of illness, injury, or behavioural changes.
- Groom, brush, and prepare horses for activities, including saddling and tack fitting.
- Coordinate and execute safe horse transport for events, veterinary visits, or other activities.
- Assist in training sessions, ensuring horses are in proper condition and monitoring their behaviour.
- Support events and competitions by handling horse preparation, management, and welfare.
Required profile
- Minimum of 4 years experience in horse handling and care.
- Basic education (ninth grade completed is desirable).
- Knowledge of equine nutrition, hygiene, and general health assessment.
- Understanding of common equine diseases and first‑aid procedures.
- Experience with hoof care, shoeing assistance, and tack maintenance.
- Ability to safely load, unload, and secure horses during transport.
- Familiarity with safety standards for handling horses and riders.
- Driving licence type B1 is desirable.
