Buyer II – Procurement Sourcing Specialist

About the role

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Buyer II to join its Procurement Excellence Buy Desk. The role focuses on developing and executing sourcing strategies for direct‑materials categories, handling spot buys, sourcing events, and project‑related activities.

Key responsibilities

• Execute one‑time or low‑complexity sourcing requests for direct materials.
• Capture and analyze spend data using procurement analytics tools.
• Collaborate with the Market Intelligence team to identify potential suppliers.
• Conduct basic cost and scenario analyses to evaluate supplier bids.
• Research vendors and prepare RFPs for spend under $1M annually.
• Translate customer requirements into clear RFPs and contracts.
• Negotiate contract terms and pricing, recording annual P&L savings.
• Mentor junior sourcing generalists on category‑specific requirements.

Required profile

• 3+ years of procurement experience in direct sourcing.
• Hands‑on experience with the full sourcing cycle, vendor management, and contract negotiations.
• Proficiency with e‑sourcing, spend analytics, ERP, and supplier management software.
• Strong negotiation and analytical abilities.
• Leadership mindset with a desire to coach junior team members.
• Self‑starter attitude, comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines.
