Business Intelligence Data Engineer

About the role

Huntsman is looking for a Business Intelligence Data Engineer to join the Global Reporting & Analytics (GRA) team in San Jose, Costa Rica. This hybrid position blends hands‑on dashboard development with data‑engineering tasks on a Databricks‑based platform, supporting finance and analytics stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver interactive Power BI dashboards that translate business needs into actionable insights.
• Collaborate with the Lead Data Engineer to build and maintain scalable data pipelines and transformations in Databricks.
• Write, optimise, and maintain complex SQL and Python scripts to create curated, analytics‑ready datasets.
• Perform data integration, quality checks, and validation to ensure trustworthy reporting.
• Develop analytical data models and semantic layers that support consistent metrics across the organisation.
• Act as a technical bridge between BI analysts and data engineers, facilitating effective use of the data platform.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Economics or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in BI, analytics, or data‑engineering roles with proven hands‑on dashboard development and data preparation.
• Strong SQL expertise, including complex query writing.
• Experience with Python for data transformations.
• Ability to work onsite in Heredia on scheduled office days and collaborate cross‑functionally.
