Automation Engineer II (Electrophysiology)

About the role
The Automation Engineer II will design, develop, and support automation and fixturing solutions for electrophysiology medical device manufacturing. Working closely with R&D, Process Development, Manufacturing, Quality and external suppliers, you will ensure that equipment and processes meet regulatory, quality and productivity goals.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, program, integrate and troubleshoot automated equipment including PLCs, HMIs, robotics, motion‑control, vision systems, sensors and industrial communications.
- Design and build smart and manual fixtures, keeping projects within budget and CAPEX limits.
- Lead projects from concept through design, prototyping, FAT/SAT, commissioning, qualification and production rollout.
- Support process development, characterization, optimization and validation using custom fixtures.
- Perform root‑cause analysis on complex automation issues and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain technical documentation, standards and ensure compliance with medical‑device regulations.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- At least 3 years of experience developing automated equipment and manufacturing fixtures.
- Experience in a regulated industry, preferably medical devices.
- Fluent in spoken and written English and Spanish.
- Strong analytical and critical‑thinking abilities.
Required skills
- PLC programming and HMI development.
- Robotics integration and motion‑control.
- Machine‑vision systems and sensor integration.
- Industrial communications protocols.
- Design of smart and manual fixtures.
- CAD modeling with SolidWorks.
- Equipment commissioning, troubleshooting and validation.
- Lean Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt) or related continuous‑improvement certifications (desirable).
