Associate Software Engineer

About the role

Moody's Data Estate team is looking for an Associate Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain large‑scale data pipelines. You will work with modern lakehouse technologies to transform raw data into reliable, analytics‑ready assets that support risk‑assessment solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and operate data pipelines using Python and PySpark on Databricks.
• Create and schedule notebooks, jobs, and workflows, leveraging Delta Lake and Unity Catalog.
• Write advanced SQL queries (joins, window functions, CTEs) and optimise query performance.
• Design scalable data‑warehousing solutions using dimensional modelling and ETL/ELT best practices.
• Deploy and monitor pipelines on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud services.
• Collaborate with the team using Git, CI/CD pipelines, and agile delivery practices.
• Apply AI tools to automate and enhance data‑processing workflows.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience building data pipelines with Python and PySpark.
• Strong proficiency with Databricks notebooks, jobs, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog.
• Advanced SQL skills, including complex joins, window functions, CTEs, and performance tuning.
• Solid understanding of data‑warehousing concepts and dimensional modelling.
• Practical experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Working knowledge of Git, CI/CD, and agile development.
• Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to improve workflow efficiency.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
