Applications Development AI Developer

About the role

The Applications Development AI Developer will join Citi's engineering team to build next‑generation applications using large language models and the Model Context Protocol. You will combine AI expertise with backend engineering to deliver high‑performance APIs and optimized database solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate and deploy LLM‑powered applications, including prompt engineering, retrieval‑augmented generation and basic agentic workflows.
• Implement Model Context Protocol (MCP) to securely connect AI models with data sources and tools.
• Design, build and maintain high‑performance RESTful APIs.
• Write, optimize and troubleshoot SQL queries, views and schemas in Microsoft SQL Server.
• Leverage autonomous AI coding platforms such as Devin to accelerate development and testing.

Required profile

• 5‑8 years of relevant experience in applications development.
• Hands‑on experience integrating enterprise LLMs (e.g., OpenAI GPT, Anthropic Claude) via APIs using frameworks like LangChain or LlamaIndex.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server and performance tuning.
• Ability to work with limited supervision and act as a subject‑matter expert for senior stakeholders.
