Accounting Analyst I

About the role

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking an Accounting Analyst I to join its Finance team. You will be responsible for a range of general accounting activities within a global, cross‑functional environment, supporting month‑end and quarter‑end close processes while ensuring compliance and accuracy.

Key responsibilities

• Execute general ledger, intercompany, accruals, prepaids, payroll and fixed‑asset transactions for month‑end close.
• Prepare and post manual journal entries and perform mid‑complex balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Analyze accounting discrepancies, identify root causes and propose corrective actions.
• Support internal and external audit processes and maintain required controls.
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve accounting inquiries.
• Identify opportunities for process optimization and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA) is a plus.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, month‑end close and SOX compliance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with major ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or JD Edwards.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with financial reporting tools like Hyperion or BlackLine.
