Systems/Software Engineer for Storage

About the role

Join HPE's Storage software team in Costa Rica to design and develop next‑generation storage devices. The position is hybrid, requiring on‑site work about two days per week.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers within the new software team.
• Design, develop, and optimize software components, drivers, and algorithms that integrate tightly with storage hardware.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to improve performance, data transfer, and storage efficiency.
• Contribute to system architecture, including data management, caching, and fault‑tolerance mechanisms.
• Create and execute comprehensive test plans to validate functionality and performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer, Electronics, or Software Engineering or a related field.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment.

Required skills

• Proficient in C programming; experience with Python or Rust is a plus.
• Low‑level systems programming, embedded systems, or device driver development.
• Linux development experience, including kernel and system‑level programming.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
