Senior Web Designer, Design Systems (Remote, Heredia)

About the role

Blacksmith Agency builds websites and marketing programs for US clients. As a Senior Web Designer focused on Design Systems, you will create and own the architecture of client design systems, turning brand guidelines into reusable token‑based components that can be automatically processed.

Key responsibilities

• Build token architecture in Figma using variables, modes, and semantic naming that our pipeline can read predictably.
• Ship core component libraries that hold up across an entire site, not just a homepage.
• Document the system so a developer or an automated pipeline can execute it without questions.
• Work across several client brands at once, each looking distinctly different, with the same structural rigor.

Required profile

• 4+ years designing for the web with real design‑system work in your portfolio.
• Fluency in Figma variables, component properties, auto‑layout, and variants – actual architecture, not just tidy files.
• A portfolio showing distinct visual outcomes for different clients while maintaining consistent underlying rigor.
• Strong English and ability to overlap with US business hours.

Required skills

• Figma (variables, component properties, auto‑layout, variants)
• Design system architecture
• Token‑based design methodology
