Senior Software Engineer-Scala

About the role

We are seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of a modern, cloud‑native data processing platform. In this role you will design, build, and maintain scalable, resilient services that process and manage large volumes of data across AWS and GCP environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Scala.
• Build and enhance distributed systems that process large‑scale data workloads.
• Develop integrations with cloud services across AWS and Google Cloud Platform.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms using cloud‑native identity services.
• Build and maintain data pipelines supporting ingestion, transformation, and analytics.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define technical requirements and deliver solutions.
• Ensure system reliability, observability, performance, and operational excellence.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well‑documented code.
• Participate in code reviews and mentor other engineers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in distributed, cloud‑based environments.
• Develop and execute comprehensive testing strategies, including unit, component, and integration testing.

Required profile

• Strong proficiency in Scala and experience with sbt for build management.
• Solid understanding of functional programming principles.
• Experience with JSON serialization frameworks such as Circe.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform.
• Knowledge of cloud authentication and authorization mechanisms (IAM, STS, AssumeRole, WebIdentity).
• Experience integrating with AWS SDKs, especially Amazon S3 and AWS STS.
• Experience with Google BigQuery, Google Dataflow, and PostgreSQL.
• Strong SQL skills.
• Experience with asynchronous and concurrent programming using FS2 and cats‑effect.
• Familiarity with distributed messaging platforms such as Google Pub/Sub.
• Strong testing experience (unit, component, integration).
• Experience troubleshooting distributed systems and cloud‑native applications.
• Proficiency with Git and modern software development workflows.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in backend or data‑intensive systems.
• Experience with Finagle or similar RPC frameworks.
• Knowledge of data pipeline orchestration and workflow management tools.
• Experience deploying and operating applications in Kubernetes environments.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies and cloud‑native architectures.
• Experience building highly observable and resilient data processing systems.
