Senior EHS Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Senior EHS Specialist to lead and enhance our Environmental, Health, and Safety system in Costa Rica. You will ensure compliance with AbbVie’s global standards and local regulations while fostering a strong safety culture across the site.

Key responsibilities

• Implement, maintain, and continuously improve EH&S programs aligned with AbbVie global standards.
• Ensure compliance with Costa Rican legislation and corporate policies.
• Conduct risk assessments, inspections, internal audits, and lead incident investigations.
• Manage the ergonomics program and supervise on‑site emergency response, safety committee, and Green Team.
• Coordinate safety, occupational health, and emergency response training.
• Develop and execute emergency, evacuation, and business continuity plans.
• Monitor and report EH&S performance indicators at local and regional levels.
• Act as liaison with regulatory bodies during inspections or audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
• Advanced English proficiency (spoken and written).
• Minimum 5 years of EH&S experience, preferably in corporate or service environments.
• Experience implementing EH&S management systems.
• Knowledge of Costa Rican occupational safety and health regulations.
