Senior Data Scientist

About the role

Cloudera is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to design and deliver AI‑powered systems that accelerate decision‑making and enhance operational excellence. The role focuses on building internal copilots, AI‑enabled workflows, and reusable platform components that embed intelligence into business processes.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy Generative AI‑powered internal applications, copilots and workflow accelerators.
• Build reusable AI components such as retrieval pipelines, prompt libraries and evaluation frameworks.
• Develop and maintain statistical and machine‑learning models for automation, forecasting and classification use cases.
• Partner cross‑functionally to identify high‑value AI opportunities and create reusable datasets and feature pipelines.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning or AI‑focused roles.
• Hands‑on experience building applications or workflows powered by large language models.
• Strong curiosity for emerging AI technologies and a builder mindset demonstrated through shipped AI tools.
• Academic background in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering).

Required skills

• Python (or R) for data preparation, feature engineering and modeling.
• Core data‑science libraries: Pandas, NumPy, scikit‑learn.
• SQL for production‑grade data access.
• Experience with LLMs, prompt design, retrieval‑augmented generation and evaluation.
• Familiarity with modern development frameworks such as Streamlit, Gradio or FastAPI.
• Version control using Git/GitHub.
• Knowledge of vector databases, embedding models and semantic retrieval systems (preferred).
