Secondary English Teacher

About the role

Country Day School, part of the Nord Anglia Education family, is seeking a passionate Secondary English Teacher for its Alajuela campus. The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality English Language Arts instruction to secondary students, potentially including Advanced Placement courses, while fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, standards‑driven ELA lessons for secondary grades.
• Design and implement varied assessments, using data to inform instruction.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs.
• Integrate technology to enhance student learning.
• Monitor and document student progress; communicate regularly with families.
• Contribute to extracurricular programs and school community activities.
• Engage in continuous professional development and collaborative team work.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher with a valid teaching certificate/license in the relevant content area.
• At least two years of secondary‑school teaching experience.
• Experience with Advanced Placement (AP) courses is an asset.
• Excellent command of English; native speaker preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with the U.S. K‑12 curriculum, Common Core State Standards, and AP/Pre‑AP ELA standards.
