R&D Manager – WATCHMAN Sustaining Team

About the role

Join Boston Scientific’s WATCHMAN Sustaining R&D team as an R&D Manager. You will lead engineers who maintain and improve commercial medical devices, ensuring product quality, compliance, and business continuity throughout the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Guide a team of engineers supporting WATCHMAN products manufactured at the Cartago site.
• Prioritize the project portfolio and make day‑to‑day technical and business decisions.
• Approve technical strategies and approaches for sustaining activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve design quality, reduce complaints, and add value.
• Develop and manage budgets, tools, and systems for the department.
• Allocate resources and schedule work in collaboration with project managers.
• Mentor staff, support career development, and recruit high‑performing talent.

Required profile

• Proven ability to lead and build trust with peers and direct reports.
• Strong cross‑functional decision‑making and communication skills.
• Experience in medical device sustaining engineering or product lifecycle management.
• Ability to motivate teams, set goals, and achieve results.
• Track record of hiring and developing technical talent.
