Production Supervisor I

About the role

Abbott Vascular, part of Abbott, provides minimally invasive products for the treatment of vascular disease. Its Costa Rica – Alajuela site is hiring a Production Supervisor who leads one or more production teams and ensures that standard production processes are maintained so that safety, quality and production volumes are met. The position is on-site and covers shift A (Monday to Friday, 5:50 am to 3:15 pm).

Key responsibilities

• Supervise production teams, including personnel scheduling, evaluation of discipline, coaching, selection and training of staff.
• Support compliance routines for the production line with internal and external regulatory requirements (FDA, TUV, etc.) and report quality issues immediately, taking part in their investigation and resolution.
• Carry out the plans needed to meet production goals: productivity, schedule adherence, quality, cost and service, while keeping a safe environment.
• Own the production area, including monitoring its efficiency and compliance.
• Prepare daily reports on progress, accomplishments and issues, coordinate daily meetings with staff and peers, and interpret daily production metrics to keep processes compliant with standard procedures.

Required profile

• 80% completion of a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Administration or a related field.
• 0-2 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a medical device, pharmaceutical or electronics industry.
• Basic English and computer skills.
• Ability to lead and influence peers and other functions; flexibility to work different shifts and areas is preferred.
• Desirable: at least one medical-industry certification such as CQE, 6 Sigma Black Belt, Lean Coach or problem-solving techniques.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Engineering, team-leading experience, and knowledge of Costa Rican labour laws.

Required skills

• Proficiency with manufacturing systems used to collect data and control or monitor processes, such as SFA, SAP, Kronos or similar.
• Knowledge of ISO and quality systems under FDA and MDD.
