Procurement Specialist – Indirect Purchasing

About the role

AST SpaceMobile is seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to manage indirect purchases, negotiate pricing, and maintain supplier relationships. The role supports the Supply Chain Management department by preparing RFPs, tracking purchase orders, and driving continuous improvement across sourcing, manufacturing, engineering, logistics, and materials functions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare purchase orders, approve payments, and negotiate prices under general guidance.
• Create requests for proposals (RFP) and bid packages for new business categories.
• Monitor contract performance and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
• Contact suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries, resolving shortages or delays.
• Build and maintain commercial relationships with local and international suppliers.
• Track open purchase orders in NetSuite, updating shipping dates and status.
• Identify supplier risks (production delays, quality issues, logistics) and lead mitigation actions.
• Generate and analyze purchasing and supply‑chain reports.
• Support buying planning by communicating lead times, demand forecasts, and delivery expectations.
• Partner with the Sourcing Manager on cost analysis and new vendor setup.
• Participate in manufacturing and engineering meetings.
• Coordinate inventory movement with logistics and material teams.
• Develop and implement process‑improvement initiatives and define key performance indicators.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3‑4+ years of hands‑on experience in supply chain, procurement, or purchasing.
• Proven ability to manage purchase orders, negotiate pricing, and monitor supplier performance.

Required skills

• NetSuite (ERP) proficiency.
