Pilot Line Test Technician

About the role

Teradyne, a global test and automation specialist, is looking for a Pilot Line Test Technician in Costa Rica to support New Product Introduction activities. The role covers the qualification, troubleshooting and continuous improvement of automated test equipment products and processes, applying substantial job knowledge and working with limited daily instruction.

Key responsibilities

• Execute, verify and improve established test and calibration procedures for electronic PCBAs and assemblies using automated test equipment platforms.
• Analyze and troubleshoot hardware and software test failures using oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, schematics, board-layout files and approved software tools.
• Support NPI during R&D phases 3, 4 and 5, including product bring-up, data collection, issue reporting and technical communication with engineering.
• Communicate hardware, software, process and equipment issues clearly, with data-based findings, recommended actions and timely status updates.
• Contribute to yield analysis, reliability activities, risk identification, lessons-learned reviews and TPM practices.
• Maintain test systems and equipment and collaborate with Test Engineering on quality, reliability and repair objectives.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting guidance, reports and training material, and share knowledge with team members.
• Represent the Pilot Line in cross-functional discussions and provide technical support at other company locations when required.

Required profile

• Technical degree in Electronics or a related discipline; progress toward a bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field is preferred.
• 5 years of related technical experience.
• Understanding of electronic principles, automated test equipment fundamentals, company products and troubleshooting methods.
• Ability to interpret electronic signals, schematics and board-layout information.
• Knowledge of statistical analysis, yield calculation, reliability processes, TPM, ESD and IPC criteria.
• Desirable: basic SQL, VBA or related programming and data-tool knowledge.
• Preferred: clear verbal and written English (A2 to B1 or higher) for technical meetings and presentations.
