Operations Manager

About the role

Abbott is seeking an Operations Manager to lead production activities at its Alajuela, Coyol site within the Vascular division. The role ensures timely manufacturing of high‑quality vascular products while meeting cost objectives and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, orient, train, and develop production staff, setting clear expectations and evaluating performance.
• Establish production targets, create budgets, control costs, and optimize asset utilization.
• Support the integration of new technologies and processes to improve efficiency.
• Coordinate Production Supervisors to maintain current and future production systems.
• Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives, identify efficiency opportunities, and participate in plant‑wide CI teams.
• Contribute to strategic and tactical activities that drive organizational development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related STEM field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven track record of managing teams to meet schedule and budget goals.
• Demonstrated continuous‑improvement achievements.
• Full bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.

Required skills

• Experience with manufacturing data systems such as SAP, SFA, or Kronos.
• Knowledge of GMP, ISO standards, and FDA/MDD quality regulations.
