Network Technician Level I

About the role

The Network Technician Level I joins DXC's Network Operations Center (NOC) to monitor and maintain network infrastructure. You will be the first line of defense, validating alerts, performing initial diagnostics, and ensuring service continuity for mission‑critical IT services.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor network devices and services using approved observability platforms.
• Validate alerts, assess impact, and follow event‑handling procedures.
• Perform Level 1 diagnostics with approved tools, commands, runbooks and SOPs.
• Create, classify, prioritize and update tickets in the ITSM platform, maintaining clear chronological work notes.
• Escalate incidents to advanced support teams within SLA thresholds and track cases through restoration.
• Provide timely updates to customers and internal stakeholders; support bridge calls and major‑incident coordination.
• Coordinate with carriers, ISPs, data‑center teams, vendors and resolver groups according to established procedures.
• Maintain and improve runbooks, knowledge articles, checklists and SOPs; identify recurring issues and suggest improvements.

Required profile

• Technical diploma, university studies or equivalent experience in networking, telecommunications, systems engineering or IT.
• Intermediate English communication skills; Spanish required for LATAM operations where applicable.
• Availability for rotating shifts, weekends and holidays.
• Customer‑focused, analytical, detail‑oriented, accountable and a team player.
• ITIL Foundation, CCNA or equivalent entry‑level certification is desirable.

• TCP/IP, IPv4, subnetting, routing and switching fundamentals.
• VLANs, trunking, STP, DNS, DHCP.
• Network monitoring tools and observability platforms.
• ITSM ticketing systems.
• Runbooks, SOPs and knowledge‑base documentation.
• ITIL Foundation and/or CCNA certification (desired).
