Materials Planner II

About the role

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Materials Planner II to ensure efficient flow of materials through the production cycle, supporting scientific discoveries worldwide. You will work with cross‑functional teams to optimize inventory, manage MRP, and improve supply‑chain effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain material requirements plans using ERP/MRP systems.
• Monitor material availability, shortages, supplier deliveries, and planning exceptions.
• Manage planning parameters such as lead times, safety stock, reorder points, lot sizes, and minimum order quantities.
• Collaborate with suppliers and Procurement to resolve shortages, late deliveries, and supply constraints.
• Analyze and optimize inventory levels to reduce excess and obsolete stock while maintaining production continuity.
• Coordinate material planning activities related to Engineering Change Orders, BOM changes, and product transitions.
• Support Lean, Six Sigma, PPI, and other continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years relevant experience, or Associate’s degree plus 7 years, or High School Diploma plus 9 years.
• Experience in material planning, production planning, production control, supply chain, or related manufacturing operations.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel.

Required skills

• ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Intuitive, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.).
• Advanced Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SQL.
• Knowledge of MRP, inventory management, BOMs, ECOs, and supplier management.
• APICS/ASCM certifications (CPIM, CSCP, CPSM) – preferred.
• Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, PPI methodologies – preferred.
