Learning Support Specialist – Middle & High School

About the role

The Learning Support Specialist at Country Day School drives an inclusive education model for middle and high school students with mild to moderate exceptionalities. This position blends direct student support with strategic leadership to embed Universal Design for Learning, Multi‑Tiered Systems of Support, Response to Intervention, and differentiated instruction across the campus.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and monitor individualized support plans that promote access, belonging, and student agency.
• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, families, and external providers to align instructional practices with inclusive frameworks.
• Serve on Student Learning Profile (SLP) teams and coordinate transitions between school divisions.
• Lead professional‑learning sessions and develop sustainable schoolwide systems, protocols, and inclusive practices.
• Collect and analyze student data to track progress, inform decision‑making, and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education, Learning Support, or a related field.
• Valid teaching certificate or license.
• Minimum two years of experience supporting middle and/or high school students with mild to moderate exceptionalities.
• Proven experience advancing inclusive practices such as UDL, MTSS, RTI, and differentiated instruction.
• Strong collaboration skills with teachers, counselors, administrators, families, and external providers.
• Experience contributing to professional learning and developing schoolwide inclusive systems.
• Ability to use student data to monitor progress and support continuous improvement.
• Excellent command of the English language.
