Learning Support Specialist – Middle & High School

About the role

The Learning Support Specialist at Country Day School leads inclusive education for middle and high school students with mild to moderate exceptionalities. This position blends direct student support with strategic leadership to embed Universal Design for Learning, Multi‑Tiered Systems of Support, and Response to Intervention across the campus.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and monitor individualized support plans for students.
• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, families, and external providers.
• Serve on Student Learning Profile (SLP) teams and coordinate student transitions.
• Lead professional learning sessions on inclusive practices.
• Develop and sustain school‑wide systems and protocols using data‑driven decision making.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education, Learning Support, or a related field.
• Valid teaching certificate/license.
• Minimum two years of experience supporting middle or high school students with mild to moderate exceptionalities.
• Demonstrated experience with UDL, MTSS, RTI, and differentiated instruction.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
• Familiarity with Multi‑Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
• Experience with Response to Intervention (RTI) frameworks.
• Ability to differentiate instruction effectively.
