Junior Software Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join our team in Escazú. You will work across our stack to build and maintain the tools that power Cinco Siete’s regulatory‑intelligence platform. The role offers hands‑on experience with production systems that directly impact how clients track regulatory risk.

Key responsibilities

• Ship end‑to‑end features from implementation through deployment.
• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines that feed legislative and regulatory tracking.
• Debug and improve performance and reliability of both frontend and backend services.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and the product team to define technical trade‑offs.

Required profile

• Solid foundation in computer science concepts such as algorithms, data structures, and software architecture.
• Minimum 2 years of professional software development experience.
• Completed degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a fast‑moving, on‑site environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python.
• Proficiency in TypeScript.
• Experience building web applications with Next.js.
• Experience creating RESTful APIs using FastAPI or similar frameworks.
• Ability to read and navigate existing codebases and debug across frontend and backend boundaries.
