Junior Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Junior Accountant to join DHL’s team in Heredia, Costa Rica. In this position you will support the timely and accurate preparation of monthly financial statements and ensure compliance with accounting standards and corporate policies. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to maintain the integrity of our financial data.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and post general ledger journal entries accurately and on schedule.
• Compile month‑end ledger reports and support the month‑end closing process.
• Record intercompany invoices and monitor their processing status.
• Assist team members with accounting tasks and ensure timely manual recharges (e.g., SLA recharges).
• Perform monthly inter‑company reconciliations and confirmations following DPDHL guidelines.
• Support analytical reviews of balance sheet and profit & loss accounts.
• Prepare and review balance‑sheet account reconciliations in line with the DHL Express Regional Operating Model.
• Maintain documentation such as SOPs, job aids, and process flows.
• Provide support for internal financial control policies, outsourced accounting quality control, and audit processes.

Required profile

• Technical degree in Accounting or a university student/graduated in Finance or Accounting.
• At least 6 months of experience with general ledger and fixed assets.
• Intermediate proficiency in English.
• Intermediate level of Excel.
• Experience with SAP is a plus.
