Intern - Donor Intelligence

About the role

This internship supports the Resident Coordinator System in Costa Rica by providing research, analysis, and coordination on donor funding and international development priorities. The intern will work closely with UN Country Team staff and external partners to produce actionable intelligence.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a donor landscape heat map using available intelligence, data, and analytical inputs.
• Support stakeholder coordination and gather information on the funding environment in Costa Rica.
• Prepare analytical products and presentations for engagement with government counterparts and development partners.
• Assist in reviewing and drafting partnership agreements and related documentation.
• Research regional priorities related to international security, governance, and development cooperation.
• Monitor donor funding trends, emerging financing mechanisms, and resource‑mobilisation opportunities for the UN Country Team.
• Contribute to research and concept development for a potential regional trust fund on security‑related programming, subject to funding availability.

Required profile

• High school diploma; currently enrolled in or having completed the final year of a bachelor’s degree, master’s, or Ph.D. programme.
• Field of study closely related to donor intelligence, resource mobilisation, research, or policy analysis.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish; knowledge of French is an advantage.
• Desirable experience in resource mobilisation, research and analysis, partnership development, and political/policy analysis.
