Field Application Engineer – Semiconductor Test Solutions

About the role

The Teradyne Field Applications team is seeking a driven Field Application Engineer to develop and support practical test solutions for customers in Alajuela, Costa Rica.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, debug, deploy, and release test solutions for Digital, High‑Speed Digital, High‑Power Computing, SoC, Mixed‑Signal, and Analog semiconductor devices.
• Analyze hardware, software, and test issues on Teradyne ATE platforms and recommend improvements to throughput, yield, quality, and test coverage.
• Support customer evaluations, installations, production ramps, and test‑process improvements, including handler and prober equipment integration.
• Define requirements for hardware, software, test‑cell integration, schematics, PCBs, and interface hardware.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of semiconductor test industry experience with hands‑on IC component test project development.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally 25% or more.

Required skills

• Programming knowledge in .NET, C#, VB, C++, C, or Java.
• Proficiency in Excel.
• Experience with ATE platforms such as Teradyne UltraFLEX, UltraFLEXplus, IG‑XL, Eagle Test Systems EV/EV‑MST, Advantest V93K, SmarTest 7/8.
• Knowledge of handler and prober interfaces and semiconductor test ecosystems.
