Entry-Level Cyber Security WAF Analyst

About the role

As a member of Equifax’s Cyber Security Countermeasures team, you will join the Web Application Firewall (WAF) group to protect enterprise applications. You will monitor traffic, tune security policies, and support incident response for web‑based threats.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor real‑time web traffic and analyze WAF logs using SIEM tools (e.g., DEVO) to detect threats such as SQL injection, XSS and bot attacks.
• Deploy and tune WAF rules, moving them from Log/Simulate to Block mode while investigating false positives to maintain business continuity.
• Participate in security incident response by providing WAF telemetry and collaborating with development teams on application vulnerabilities.

Required profile

• 0–1 years of experience in a corporate IT or cybersecurity role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field (preferred).
• Solid understanding of HTTP (headers, cookies, sessions) and the full request/response lifecycle.
• Familiarity with OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities, especially SQLi, XSS and SSRF.
• Good grasp of the OSI model, particularly Layer 4 (Transport) and Layer 7 (Application).
