EHS Specialist

About the role

The EHS Specialist supports and implements Environment, Health & Safety programs for the Kraft Heinz Production Plant in Pavas and provides partial support to the Distribution Center in Coyol. The role ensures compliance with local legislation, corporate standards, and the Kraft Heinz Management System while fostering a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and strengthen the Behavior‑Based Safety (BOS) program through methodology development, training, trend analysis and action‑plan execution.
• Lead implementation of corporate technical EHS programs, risk assessments, safety alerts and corrective actions.
• Conduct incident investigations, manage High Potential Incident (HIPO) processes and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
• Participate in plant operational routines, ergonomic assessments and FM Global audit management.
• Manage the SMETA Occupational Health and Safety Management System and act as a technical advisor to strengthen safety culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Licentiate degree in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in occupational health and safety management, including safety program implementation, emergency management and risk assessment.
• Fluent Spanish and advanced English.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Costa Rican occupational health and safety regulations.
• Understanding of ISO 45001 fundamentals.
• Experience with SMETA requirements and FM Global audit processes.
• Ability to develop and deliver BOS methodologies and training.
