Director of Landscaping

About the role

The Director of Landscaping leads the comprehensive landscaping maintenance program for a golf course, club amenities, common areas, and residences. This role ensures an immaculate, safe, and visually appealing environment that aligns with Discovery Land Company's quality and sustainability standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and train the landscaping team, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
• Oversee all green‑area maintenance including mowing, pruning, seeding, fertilizing, weed control, and irrigation.
• Implement seasonal color installations and maintain plant health.
• Plan and execute landscaping improvement projects and manage departmental budgets.
• Prepare regular reports on expenses, materials, and team performance.
• Promote sustainable practices, water conservation, and compliance with environmental regulations.
• Ensure safe use and maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment.
• Manage external landscaping contracts and relationships with nurseries and suppliers.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience directing landscaping operations, preferably in residential or hospitality settings.
• Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Agronomy, or related field (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong leadership, emotional intelligence, and adaptability.
• Excellent communication in English and Spanish.

Required skills

• Project management software proficiency.
• Microsoft Office suite.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems, native plants, fertilization, and pest control.
• Pesticide application certification (desired).
