Buyer Jr – Purchasing Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a meticulous and organized Junior Buyer to join our local purchasing team in Coyol, Costa Rica. You will support the procurement operations of Smiths Interconnect, coordinating purchase orders, analysing quotations, and maintaining supplier information.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate purchase orders and supplier activities to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
• Evaluate quotations, prices and commercial terms to support competitive sourcing decisions.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and suppliers to resolve purchase or delivery issues.
• Maintain up‑to‑date supplier, price and purchase data for decision‑making and compliance.
• Analyze purchasing and inventory data, working with warehouse and operations teams to sustain appropriate stock levels.
• Support onboarding of new suppliers and monitor their performance.
• Handle procurement of services and non‑tangible requirements.
• Identify cost‑reduction and process‑improvement opportunities.
• Assist in price and contract negotiations with suppliers.
• Prepare and submit monthly precursor control reports to the Chemical Registry.
• Ensure all purchasing activities comply with internal procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Experience in purchasing, sourcing or supply‑chain operations.
• Hands‑on experience processing purchase orders and coordinating with suppliers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and other Office applications.
• Experience analysing quotations, costs or supplier proposals.
• Basic knowledge of inventory management principles.
