Benefits & Payroll Assistant

About the role

A full-time, 100% on-site Benefits & Payroll Assistant is sought in Escazú, Costa Rica, with a primary focus on employee benefits administration and support for payroll operations. The role is open to candidates who are responsible, organized and service-oriented.

Key responsibilities

• Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, updates, cancellations and renewals
• Serve as the main point of contact for employee questions about benefits, eligibility and coverage
• Coordinate with insurance brokers and benefits providers to resolve issues and follow up on employee requests
• Guide employees through benefits enrollment during onboarding and communicate available options
• Prepare clear benefits communications and support employee information sessions
• Review provider invoices, reconcile benefits records and coordinate payments with Finance
• Maintain accurate benefits data and prepare reports on participation, costs and utilization
• Support payroll processing by validating benefit-related deductions, contributions and adjustments
• Handle confidential employee information with discretion

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting or a related field
• Minimum 1 year of experience in employee benefits administration
• Experience coordinating with benefits providers, insurance brokers and employees
• At least 85% English proficiency or B2+ (non-negotiable)
• Lives near Escazú and is available to work full-time and on-site

Required skills

• Working knowledge of payroll processes and benefit-related deductions
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
• Preferred: experience administering benefits in multinational companies
