ASIC Principal Design Engineer

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is hiring an ASIC Principal Design Engineer in Heredia, Costa Rica. The role is hybrid, with an average of two days per week spent in an HPE office. It is a senior position providing technical leadership for significant VLSI projects and programs.

Key responsibilities

• Design, analyze, develop, modify and evaluate VLSI components and hardware systems, including architecture, logic design and design verification through simulation software.
• Build physical implementations through multidimensional designs of complex integrated circuits, and test prototypes to enable production solutions.
• Direct support personnel in detailed design, testing and prototype fabrication.
• Develop organization-wide architectures and methodologies for VLSI design across multiple platforms and organizations within the Global Business Unit.
• Contribute to defining industry standards and product features that become de facto standards.
• Review designs and projects for compliance with technology and development guidelines, and advise executive leadership and outsourced partners.
• Mentor less experienced staff and contribute to the selection of future technical leaders.

Required profile

• Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• Typically 10+ years of experience in VLSI design, verification or implementation.
• Leadership experience and a history of innovation, with multiple patents, publications and technical presentations in VLSI or electronic/hardware design.

Required skills

• Mastery of electrical engineering fundamentals, VLSI principles, digital logic and computer architecture.
• Programming and scripting, hardware description languages, EDA tools and/or FPGA tools.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and strong written and verbal communication in English and the local language.
