Staff Accountant – Fixed Asset & Free Zone Specialist

About the role

The Staff Accountant will manage fixed‑asset accounting and administration, ensuring compliance with Costa Rica’s Free Zone Regime, PROCOMER, and customs requirements. The role supports month‑end close, audit activities, and capital‑expenditure reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records of acquisitions, disposals, transfers, impairments and capitalizations in ERP systems for corporate and statutory reporting.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly capital‑expenditure reports and reconcile fixed‑asset subledger and construction‑in‑progress accounts.
• Run and validate depreciation calculations, lead physical inventories, and submit data for PROCOMER reports and audits.
• Collaborate with project owners on budgets, address variances, and support audit processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance and active CPI or CPA certification.
• Minimum two years of experience in fixed‑asset accounting, CapEx budgeting and project tracking, preferably in a multinational or manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of Costa Rican tax legislation, free‑zone regulations and J‑SOX compliance.
• High accuracy, attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).
• Proficiency with Power BI.
• Experience with ERP systems, especially SAP.
