Sr. Data Engineer - Integrations

About the role

The Coca-Cola Company is looking for a Senior Data Engineer focused on integrations. You will drive the technical strategy and architecture of how data flows across the enterprise, designing scalable data products using Spark, Scala/Java and JVM-based engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and oversee enterprise-scale data integration pipelines and data products, establishing Medallion architecture patterns (Bronze, Silver, Gold) in Microsoft Fabric.
• Act as escalation point for complex Spark performance tuning: Catalyst optimizer query plans, JVM memory profiling and advanced partitioning.
• Lead the design of highly available, REST-based microservices and APIs on the JVM, and engineer modular, testable code using functional programming principles.
• Optimize workflows through data partitioning, storage formats and platform configurations.
• Define standards for functional programming and SOLID principles in Scala, run architectural reviews, lead code quality initiatives and mentor Grade 10 and junior engineers.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, Maven and SBT to automate testing, deployment and configuration of data artifacts.

Required profile

• Expert Scala and JVM architecture, including concurrent, modular systems built with advanced functional programming.
• Advanced Spark expertise (5+ years): building, debugging and optimizing enterprise distributed applications, solving data skew and memory management issues at scale.
• Experience designing scalable data models (STAR, Vault, Tabular) and Medallion architectures for enterprise analytics and structured streaming.
• Proven experience architecting and scaling REST-based microservices and backend applications on the JVM.
• 4-5+ years of combined experience transforming large data ecosystems with Azure Data Services (Synapse, Fabric, ADF, Azure Functions).
• Ability to architect automated release cycles and infrastructure deployment; hands-on with Git, GitHub Actions, Maven/SBT and parallel development environments.
• Agile delivery (Scrum, lean techniques) and collaboration with global engineering teams.
