Speech and Debate Coach (Temporary Position)

About the role

The Speech and Debate Coach will lead the elementary through high school program, delivering training, lessons, and competition support under the direction of the Director of Secondary Education. This temporary position runs until June 30, 2027 and focuses on enhancing student performance and team operations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and implement Speech and Debate activities for all grade levels.
• Conduct trainings, lessons, and prepare students for competitions.
• Provide peer‑to‑peer coaching and mentorship.
• Handle administrative tasks related to the team’s operations.

Required profile

• High School Diploma (minimum).
• Participation in at least one year of competitive speech at the high school or college level, either as a competitor or coach.
• Preference for candidates with theater experience.
• Minimum of 48 college credits or successful completion of a District Exam; concurrent college enrollment or recent graduation preferred.
• Prior experience working with students or in a speech‑and‑debate setting is advantageous.
• Tuberculosis test clearance and proof of high school graduation required upon hire.
