Software Engineer – Azure Database for PostgreSQL

About the role

Microsoft’s Azure Database for PostgreSQL team is looking for a Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and iterate features that improve customer experiences and drive product adoption. You will work with senior engineers, apply data‑driven experimentation, and gain hands‑on experience with cloud database technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Write secure, maintainable, and reusable code following modern design principles.
• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to clarify requirements, integrate feedback, and iterate on designs.
• Participate in code reviews, on‑call rotations, and system health monitoring as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI).
• Continuously learn emerging technologies and apply solutions that enhance performance, scalability, and reliability in a cloud environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements.
• At least 1 + year of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, or Python.

Required skills

• Proficiency in programming languages: C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Python.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Experience with monitoring performance, telemetry, and continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of large‑scale system design, update servicing, and security fundamentals.
