Software Development Engineer Internship – Costa Rica

About the role

Join Amazon as a Software Development Engineer (SDE) intern and work on scalable, cloud‑native services that impact millions of customers worldwide. You will be part of a collaborative team, own the full lifecycle of your code, and see your contributions deployed in production.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross‑disciplinary engineers to design, build, and operate innovative products and services.
• Develop scalable solutions using cloud‑native architectures and microservices in a large distributed environment.
• Participate in code reviews, write clean, maintainable code, and contribute to technical documentation.
• Build resilient, fault‑tolerant systems and apply cost‑effective design patterns.
• Leverage GenAI and AI‑powered tools to improve development productivity.
• Work in an agile setting practicing CI/CD and take part in on‑call operational duties.

Required profile

• Curious, big‑thinking mindset with a passion for creating new products and features.
• Ability to manage ambiguity and deliver results in fast‑paced development cycles.
• Availability to work full‑time (up to 30 hours/week) on‑site with no class or other employment conflicts.
• At least one academic term remaining after the internship concludes.
