Software Architect – AWS & Node.js (Remote – Latin America)

About the role

Bluelight is seeking a senior Software Architect to design and build high‑performance, low‑latency services for our clients. This fully remote position serves our growing portfolio across the United States and Latin America, offering the chance to work on complex, multi‑tenant systems in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design low‑latency service architectures on AWS, selecting appropriate queues, caches, and search projections.
• Define explicit latency budgets (p95/p99) and implement synchronous durable commits for hot paths.
• Architect audit and evidence systems, including append‑only event logs and deterministic replay.
• Develop secure multi‑tenant solutions, evaluating RLS, schema‑per‑tenant, and database‑per‑tenant trade‑offs.
• Create scalable RESTful APIs and SDK integrations for external services.
• Produce capacity models, cloud cost and performance projections following the AWS Well‑Architected Framework.
• Establish technical standards, conduct architecture and code reviews, and mentor engineering teams.
• Document architectures with diagrams and ADRs, and present decisions to client engineering and security reviewers.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3 years in an architecture‑focused role.
• Deep expertise in AWS, low‑latency design, and distributed component selection.
• Strong background in PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, Row‑Level Security, and data‑modeling for multi‑tenant environments.
• Extensive experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript across the full stack.
• Proven ability to design audit/evidence systems, fail‑open/fail‑closed semantics, and outage postures.
• Experience building capacity models, cost/performance projections, and applying the AWS Well‑Architected Framework.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting architecture decisions and mentoring teams.
