Senior QA Automation Engineer

About the role

The QA Automation Engineer designs, builds and maintains the automated testing infrastructure that ensures the quality, reliability and compliance of the organization's digital products. The role shifts quality left by embedding automated testing into CI/CD pipelines, reduces manual regression work and accelerates safe delivery. It works closely with development teams, product owners and the QA Lead, and brings a software engineering mindset to test code.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable test automation frameworks for web, mobile and API testing (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Detox, RestAssured or equivalent), including page object models, test data management, reporting and parallel execution.
• Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps) and run smoke, regression and sanity suites, monitoring results and triaging failures.
• Define test coverage and risk-based priorities, author automated test cases, migrate manual cases to automation and use AI-assisted tools while evaluating AI-generated tests.
• Develop testing approaches for AI-based features (LLMs, agents, RAG) and build contract tests with Pact or equivalent.
• Run performance, load and stress tests (k6, Locust, NeoLoad, JMeter), set benchmarks and SLAs, introduce chaos engineering and automate accessibility testing.
• Advocate quality first, coach on TDD and BDD, contribute to quality dashboards, support GxP validation with automated evidence and audit trails.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of software quality engineering, with at least 3 years focused on test automation.
• Experience in a regulated environment (life sciences, healthcare, financial services) or a consumer-scale one (retail, fintech, media).
• Willingness to learn GxP, 21 CFR Part 11 and HIPAA as they apply to testing evidence.

Required skills

• At least two automation frameworks: Playwright, Cypress, Selenium WebDriver, Tosca, Detox, RestAssured or equivalent.
• Programming in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python or Java.
• CI/CD integration (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps) and API testing (Postman, RestAssured, Karate).
• Mobile automation (Detox, Appium, XCUITest) and performance tools (k6, JMeter, Locust, Gatling).
• Preferred: BDD (Cucumber, SpecFlow), prior GxP/IQ/OQ/PQ experience, ISTQB Advanced certification.
