Senior Planner (Supply Chain)

About the role

Abbott is seeking a Senior Planner to lead the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process for its Vascular division in Alajuela, Costa Rica. The role focuses on balancing demand and supply, ensuring high service levels, and supporting new product launches.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the local S&OP process, analyzing forecasts and demand‑supply data.
• Develop and communicate solid supply plans that meet service‑level targets and align with Finance and Operations.
• Maintain a 99 % fill‑rate by managing backorders, performing root‑cause analysis, and prioritizing actions.
• Report production plan attainment and hold Operations accountable to the agreed plan.
• Set and monitor inventory levels to meet customer service goals while controlling Days Inventory on Hand.
• Coordinate new product introductions, ensuring launch dates and inventory targets are achieved.
• Manage excess, obsolete, and expiring inventory, proposing solutions to minimize write‑offs.
• Drive S&OP discussions and ensure alignment with quality, service, and cost objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, supply chain or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in demand and supply planning or S&OP.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional planning processes and influence stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and communication skills with a focus on data‑driven decision making.
