Senior Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

Confluent Medical Technologies, which takes medical device projects from rapid prototype to high-volume production, is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. The role covers production planning and inventory control for several products, with a lead role in continuous improvement, product flow and capacity improvement to raise manufacturing efficiency while meeting service level targets.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure personal and company compliance with local and company health, safety and environmental regulations, and document activities according to engineering practice and regulatory requirements.
• Work with R&D, design, development and transfer engineers or customers to understand the products to be produced.
• Inspect parts visually and carry out root cause analysis, and develop and implement standard manufacturing methods and process improvements.
• Optimize medical component processing through time studies, working standards and process flows, and analyze material, labor and burden costs to reduce product costs.
• Develop, implement and monitor process controls and machinery modifications, and design production line layouts.
• Lead product transfers and new product introductions, and supervise engineers, draftspersons, technicians and others.
• Build relationships with customers and suppliers, investigate quality issues, and approve design reviews and pre-validation assessments for new processes and production lines.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering with 6-7 years of experience; medical device industry experience is an asset.
• Intermediate PC skills: email, databases, word processing, spreadsheets and graphics.
• Supervisory skills and experience desired.

Required skills

• Quality and medical regulations, with focus on process validation, traceability, quality issues and risk management.
• Manufacturing processes, tooling, workflow, layout, assembly and production equipment.
• Basic quality tools (5S, Kaizen, Pareto, Ishikawa, control charts, histograms) and advanced tools (Green Belt or higher).
• Ability to act as subject matter expert and train others, and to work under pressure with little supervision.
